Good morning {{first_name|friend}},

On my 40th birthday I lost my six-figure corporate job. My wife lost her teaching job the same day. I'm a lifelong introvert, and the advice I got was to network harder.

I didn't. I built a line of online products, quietly and mostly in writing, and grew it to seven figures. That's what this newsletter is about: each morning you'll get one piece of news, one tool, one thing to watch and one thing to do. Five minutes, then back to your work.

QUIET WIN: THE NEWS

Creators are trading followers for things they own. Inc. (Oct 25, 2026) reports that more creators are building email lists, stores and subscriptions instead of chasing views. It cites Adobe's 2026 Creators' Toolkit Report: 87% of surveyed creators who have tried creative AI say it helped grow their business or audience. One example from the piece: a creator whose first product launch fell flat built an email list, asked those readers for feedback, and her next collection sold out.

Why it matters to you: for a quiet founder, a small list of people who want what you make beats a big audience. You don't have to perform to build one.

beehiiv now tags readers when they answer a poll. In its Oct 23 product roundup, beehiiv says poll answers now save to each subscriber's profile. If you ask "What best describes you?", everyone who taps "Founder" gets tagged automatically, and you can send each group what fits them. (Polls and automations are on the Pro and Enterprise plans.)

Why it matters to you: this is market research without a single call.

TOOL OF THE DAY: TALLY

What it does: Tally lets you build forms (surveys, intake forms, order forms, waitlists) the way you'd type a document.

Free tier: unlimited forms and submissions under its fair-use guidelines, plus conditional logic, file uploads, payment collection, and Google Sheets/Notion integrations. Pro starts at €20/month to remove the branding.

Use it without selling: swap the discovery call for a 5-question form. Let buyers tell you in writing what they need, and you answer in writing.

Why watch: it's the clearest case I know that being the quiet one is an advantage, not something to fix. Good to watch before you build anything that's meant to run without you being in the room.

TRY THIS TODAY (15 MINUTES)

Make a free Tally form called "What are you stuck on?" with three questions: (1) What are you trying to build? (2) What's the hardest part right now? (3) What have you already tried?

Put the link somewhere your people already are: your email signature, your bio, or the bottom of your next email. Then let the answers come to you.

HIT REPLY

One question, and just hit Reply: what's one part of running a business you'd happily never do in person again? I read every answer, and the best ones will shape future issues.

Quietly sovereign,
Sterling
