The news: This week in AI for small business
Tool: Hemingway Editor
Watch: Derek Sivers: keep your goals to yourself

I came up with the phrase "sovereign introvert" for people who want to build their own business without turning into someone loud to do it.
This Sunday issue is lighter: a bit of news, one tool for clearer writing, and a talk about keeping your plans to yourself.
My grandmother, who raised me, never once talked about hustle. She just showed up and did the work.
Quiet Win: the news
This week in AI for small business: Claude Duet and reusable "skills."
Lilach Bullock's weekly roundup (Oct 25) covers Anthropic's Claude Duet, opened Oct 21 as a waitlisted research preview for U.S. Pro and Max subscribers. It works in the background to surface follow-ups you owe. She also covers Anthropic donating the Agent Skills standard (saved instructions an assistant can reuse for a task) to the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation on Oct 22.
Write a recurring task down once and an assistant can repeat it. Her advice is worth following too: keep sending, spending and deleting subject to your approval.
Tool of the day
Hemingway Editor
Your sales page and emails can sound mushy and long, so readers bounce before they buy. Soft, padded copy hides the offer, and people who would have paid leave because they cannot find the point.
Hemingway Editor is a private writing coach in the browser. Paste a draft; it flags long sentences and passive voice. No reviewer, no camera.
Free tier: web editor is free. Hemingway Editor Plus adds AI fixes, grammar and tone, with a free 2-week trial (checked on hemingwayapp.com today).

Keep your goals to yourself
Derek Sivers · TED · 4 min
A four-minute talk arguing that announcing your goals can give you the satisfaction of progress before you've done the work. Good news for anyone who'd rather build quietly first.

You've had a full week of issues. Which section do you actually use: news, tool, watch, or the daily task? One word is plenty. It decides what I make more of.
Quietly sovereign,
Sterling
